MMA(Mixed Martial Arts – also known as the Ultimate Fighting) is a modern combat sport which is a
combination of many martial arts styles (Boxing, Thai Boxing, Wrestling, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Judo). In
simple words, MMA is not a style alone, it is a mixture of martial arts. Mixed Martial Arts is the fastest
growing sport in world and particularly in USA. It is a full-contact combat sport that allows both striking
and grappling, using martial art techniques like Muay Thai, karate, kick-boxing, Brazilian jiu-jitsu,
taekwondo, judo among others. MMA fighters are some of the most well conditioned and skilled athletes
in sport. It takes years of dedication and hard training to be successful.

The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) is an American mixed martial arts organization based in Las
Vegas, Nevada. UFC is the biggest MMA fighting promoter in the world. Some peoples confuse between
MMA and UFC, Mixed Martial Arts is the name of the sport and Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) is
the name of the premier organisation. The UFC has been the driving force behind the sports popularity.
There are some rules in MMA fighting. The Unified Rules of Mixed Martial Arts is the most common rule
set used throughout the world. The rules are thorough and include the size of the fighting area,
specifications about hand wrapping and information on judging and fouls, amongst many other things.
There are more than 25 fouls officially listed. Some examples are; no head butting, no small joint
manipulation and no unsportsmanlike conduct that causes an injury to an opponent.
